Inspired by the world underfoot and cohabitation, this work magnifies the fungi known as Conifercone Cap (Baeospora myosura) and the fascinating structure of a Douglas Fir cone (Pseudotsuga menziesii). In collaboration with the environment, a seedbed can become the perfect condition for an essential cycle, regeneration or decomposition.

Reclaimed Earth paint is an oil-based media that was created by transforming acid mine drainage from abandoned coal mines into non-toxic art supplies. In addition to a base layer of acrylic, some of the sienna, umber, and subtle violet is the result of this collaborative conservation effort.

While this piece represents an interspecies interconnection, it also symbolizes the relationship of industrial pollution to landscape, art to ecology, and individual to the natural world.
